What this multimodal rate finder is

Free OCL Cargo tool to estimate market prices by mode (ocean, air, rail) in seconds. Shows Low, Mid, and High (±12%) plus a table of included items versus separate extras (yard, gate, ISPS, demurrage, and analogs). Use it to compare before a formal quote. Not a binding quote or a live spot index.

How the estimate is built

We use 2024–2026 market anchors by corridor (Drewry/Freightos order-of-magnitude for ocean, air boards, MX rail press) and MX terminal anchors (e.g. public SSA Manzanillo tariffs) for extras. The OD catalog targets ~80%+ of relevant volume (top-4 TEU ports, AIFA/AICM/GDL/MTY gateways, port–rail + NL border). Soft seasonality and a ±12% band keep it honest.

Important notice

This estimate is educational. The headline includes freight + orientative BAF or fuel. Yard, gate, ISPS, demurrage, terminal handling, and dray are separate (see table). Always request a formal quote with validity.

FAQ

Does this replace a forwarder quote?
No. It is a market reference for comparison. A formal quote locks price, surcharges, and validity.
Which corridors does the catalog cover?
Ocean: Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas, Veracruz, and Altamira (~91% of 2025 TEU) with East Asia, USWC, USEC, USGC, and Northern Europe. Air: AIFA, AICM, Guadalajara, and Monterrey to the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Rail: port–inland (Veracruz/Manzanillo/Lázaro/Altamira → CDMX, Bajío, Monterrey) plus Monterrey/Bajío/CDMX → Nuevo Laredo and NL → Midwest. Volume-weighted model (~80%+ of the tool universe), not 100% of trade.
Why ±12% instead of ±8% like road freight?
Multimodal has fewer consistent public lane indexes. A wider band is more honest.
What is included and what is separate?
Ocean: includes ocean freight and soft BAF; yard, gate, ISPS, and demurrage are separate. Air and rail follow the same logic (freight + fuel or linehaul included; handling, storage, or dray separate). Everything shows in the result table.
Can I see MXN and USD?
Yes. The MXN|USD toggle converts with the prior-month average; the year series uses FX per month when applicable.
Is road freight included?
Detailed road estimates live in the average freight rate finder. This tool covers ocean, air, and rail.
