A logistics yard is the physical lot where trailers or units are received, parked, inspected, and sequenced before or after the dock. It is the equipment buffer between the road and the warehouse.
If the trailer is “in the yard” but nobody knows the slot, you are already paying detention under another name.

What it means in practice
It is not “parking”: it is a flow system. Every trailer occupies capacity, creates dwell, and competes for jockey and door time.
Without records, the DC improvises by radio and the cost shows up later as detention, no-shows, or Late OTIF.
